Accessibility Statement
Last updated:
SpreeShop is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that every person — regardless of ability — should be able to browse, shop, and manage their account on SpreeShop.
Conformance Status
WCAG 2.1 Level AA — Substantially Conformant
SpreeShop substantially conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We are committed to maintaining and improving this standard.
"Substantially conformant" means that the vast majority of content meets the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria, with only minor exceptions noted below.
Accessibility Features
SpreeShop is built with the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML: Proper use of headings, landmarks (header, main, nav, footer), and ARIA roles throughout the application.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields, accordion items — are fully operable via keyboard. Tab order follows a logical reading sequence.
- Screen reader support: ARIA labels, live regions (aria-live), and descriptive alt text are used throughout. Tested with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Focus management: Focus is managed appropriately when modals, dialogs, and drawers open/close. Focus traps prevent focus from escaping active dialogs.
- Skip to main content: A skip link appears at the top of every page for keyboard users to bypass navigation.
- Color contrast: All text meets or exceeds the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Resizable text: The interface is fully functional when text is scaled to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Motion and animation: Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
- Form labels: All form inputs have associated labels, and error messages are programmatically associated with the relevant fields.
- Touch targets: Interactive elements meet the minimum 44x44px touch target size on mobile devices.
Supported Technologies
SpreeShop is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and browser combinations:
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of SpreeShop may not be fully accessible. We are actively working on these known limitations:
- Artwork customizer: The drag-and-drop artwork positioning tool has limited keyboard support. An alternative text-based input method (X/Y position fields) is available as a workaround.
- Third-party embeds: Some embedded content (Stripe payment forms) is controlled by third-party vendors and may have their own accessibility limitations outside our control.
- PDF receipts: Automatically generated order receipt PDFs may not be fully accessible. An HTML version is always available in your order history.
We review and address accessibility issues on an ongoing basis. If you encounter a specific barrier not listed here, please contact us.
